WEEKLY PICKS
WEEK 5

Christopher Kay’s Weekly Picks

Sunday
Baltimore Ravens at Detroit Lions
Coming off what should have been a victory were it not for the blown replay call; the Lions are either angry and full of energy, or disheartened and lacking motivation.  I’m going with angry and full of energy.  Actually, I’m going with the fact they’re home.
Lions over Ravens 17-13

Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns
Is this the week Cedric Benson gets his chance? Sorry, it doesn’t even matter.  The Browns are still, oh, 5 years away from competing.
Bears over Browns 24-10

Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
Yes, the Bills offence behind Losman is embarrassing to watch.  Yes the Dolphins seem to be playing hard for Nick Saban.  But this is in Buffalo, and the Bills hate the Fish and Bryan Cox! Sorry, backflash.  McGahee should see the ball a lot in this game because I’m sure Mularkey has finally discovered that their season rests on his young shoulders, not Losman’s.
Bills over Dolphins 20-10

New England Patriots at Atlanta Falcons
The Pats will continue to lose, and some sportswriter whom I will not name will continue to lie in bed late at night next to Tom Brady, consoling him and stroking his hair, making excuses for him and his team.
Falcons over Patriots 30-20

New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers
The same sportswriter mentioned above will have reason to rejoice, as his mistress; Brett Favre will get his team’s first win of the season.  But this won’t be a turnaround win, just one of the few this season for the Packers.
Packers over Saints 35-27

Seattle Seahawks at St. Louis Rams
Why can’t the Seahawks grow up, three years ago people were saying they’re still young, and haven’t figured out how to win games consistently.  That’s still the case today.  Holmgren, make your boys men already!
Rams over Seahawks 31-28

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Jets
Somehow, some way, despite the putrid offence the Jets have, they’ll pull this one out based on turnovers and special teams.  The Bucs suffer their first loss of the season.
Jets over Buccaneers 17-13

Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans
Finally the Texans will explode on offence (comparatively speaking of course) due to the fire that will be lit under them, after they too were seemingly robbed by a fumble call of a non-fumble.
Texans over Titans 30-26

Indianapolis Colts at San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers are at home in this one, which means nothing because they’re bad wherever they play (as you saw in Mexico).  They were embarrassed by the Cardinals; it’ll take a few weeks to get over that one, and this one too for that matter.
Colts over 49ers 42-18

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals
Coming off a scare after a close Monday night win over the Packers, the Panthers come up against the Cardinals coming off a huge win over the 49ers.  Somehow, the Panthers will get scared again, almost lose, but end up with the win.
Panthers over Cardinals 24-21

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
This will be very tough for the Eagles.  The Eagles will want this one badly to assert themselves in their division, where the Giants and Redskins are leading.  This game was supposed to be to see who would draw first blood in the division, not to stay alive in it.
Eagles over Cowboys 23-17

Washington Redskins at Denver Broncos
The Redskins are trying to stay undefeated, something no one would have predicted.  They won’t stay undefeated after this one.  The Broncos are on a roll as of late, and they’ll beat up Joe Gibbs and the ‘Skins pounding relentlessly on that stubborn D.
Broncos over Redskins 23-6

Cincinnati Bengals at Jacksonville Jaguars
Another undefeated team will fall, leaving the idle Giants and Colts as the only two remaining after this week.  The Jags are the first good team this Bengals team is facing.  This means, despite what will be a valiant effort due to high confidence from their wins, the Bengals won’t have what it takes in a hard fought battle.
Jaguars over Bengals 24-23

Monday
Pittsburgh Steelers at San Diego Chargers
The Chargers showed what they’re capable of against the Pats last week.  They should be on cloud nine after that performance and will want to prove it against the Steelers under the bright lights of Monday night.  The Steelers will put up a fight though, in what should be a great Monday night show down.
Chargers over Steelers 26-24

RECORD LAST WEEK: 6-8
OVERALL RECORD: 33-27
