Monday Morning QB
By Christopher Kay
Monday, October 30th 2006

Dear Ocho Cinco (aka Chad Johnson),
God Bless you for bringing fun back to the league. My only qualm is that it took you so long. The best news of the year is when you said you’ll no longer be quiet this year. Every week I can at least look forward to your hilarious comments and celebrations. I don’t know how anyone can not love you right now. Your tango dance was icing on the cake. What I hate is when your opponents try and imitate your celebrations. They look retarded. It’s embarrassing watching them. Congrats on having the highlight of the year so far with your Ocho Cinco pregame escapade. Brilliant.

No Huddle
Mike Vick has had two good passing games in a row and he’s anointed league MVP? Gimme a break. He shouldn’t be applauded for finally being able to throw for more than 2 TD passes for the first time in his career. That’s embarrassing that he’s been in the league for so long and has only now accomplished that oh so impossible feat. Oh, and while I’m talking about the Falcons… Jim Mora looks ridiculous when he acts ‘fired up’. And he’s a horrible coach.

The Eagles are a good team it seems. I can’t figure out why they keep losing games they should win. It’s odd.

The Chiefs tried really hard to give the Seahawks the victory. The Seahawks offense was decent considering they were led by Seneca Wallace and Maurice Morris. It was the Seahawk’s defense that was just plain ugly. Huard looked fantastic and Larry Johnson was superb. The Seahawk defense should be ashamed of themselves.

I hope no one give Billick any undeserved credit for the Ravens scoring some points this week. Let’s not forget that Billick is not the offensive guru from his Vikings days, that myth has been thoroughly debunked. The reason the Ravens scored some points? Well, their defense did it. Scoring two TD’s. Let’s also not forget that the Saints have no defense. Billick sure picked a great team to play for his first week of taking over play calling duties…

The “champion” Steelers lost to the Raiders of all teams. This is the ultimate in embarrassment. They will not make the playoffs for sure now. Let’s not forget though, they only won the Superbowl because of the refs.

Peyton Manning is fantastic. When he had to come back at the end to beat the Broncos, it seemed like a fore gone conclusion… and it was. Even against the over-hyped Bronco defense Peyton utterly dismantled them, and not many expected anything less, that’s how good Peyton is.

Mail Bag
There are 3 emailers this week all asking pretty much the same thing:

Sohail writes: I see you are one of the leaders in Yahoo College Football Pickem.
I belong to a private group with 3 friends and getting my ass whopped.  Any tips for next week.  Or how about your picks for the 19 games?  I am so far behind in our annual bet (for loser to buy dinner) I am open for help anywhere....
A college football seciton on your wensite would be great.

Hey Sohail. I’m actually pretty proud that I’m that high on the Yahoo College football pick’em. I was even number one for a while but I’ve now fallen to 5th place. I hope to bounce back soon. I’ll try and post my picks on this site along with my NFL picks on Thursday, so check back then.

Jason writes: I seen your name on yahoo collage pickem and was wondering how I could get some of your pics. I didn't know if you sell pics or how you do it. Anyway if you would e-mail me and let me know that would be great.

Hey Jason. Like I said for Sohail, I’ll post my picks along with my NFL picks. I don’t suggest following my NFL picks as I’ve done really bad the last few weeks.

Tony from PA writes: Like your Web Page, but it's not updated from week 3. Any way to see who you guy like?

Hi Tony from PA. It’s updated now Tony. Sorry for the delay but I’ve been in Argentina on a little vacation with friends. It won’t happen again. It’s the longest stretch I’ve had not watching football during the regular season since I was in grade school. It felt weird, but Argentina’s beautiful.

Offensive Player of the Week:  Peyton Manning. 32 for 39... annihilating the Broncos defense. Amazing.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Shawne Merriman for his 3 sacks just before he goes on suspension for steroids.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Matt Bryant for his 62 yard field goal in week 7. Yes, it was that amazing. It wasn’t done with half a foot like Dempsey’s. It wasn’t done in the mile high air of Denver like Elam’s. This was a real 62 yard field goal to win the game no less. Greatest kick ever.

Joe Theismann Award of the Week:  Their names escape me but the crew doing the Seahawks/Chiefs game were maybe the worst pair of commentators I’ve seen all season. They knew nothing and it seemed like they were watching a different game sometimes. They would often get calls wrong too and miss spotting the ball often. It was ugly to watch.

Pet Peeve of the Week: Players who imitate Ocho Cinco’s (Chad Johnson’s) touchdown dances.

C Kay’s Top Ten
1. Chicago Bears
2. Indianapolis Colts
3. New England Patriots
4. Denver Broncos
5. San Diego Chargers
6. Seattle Seahawks
7. Baltimore Ravens
8. Cincinnati Bengals

10. Jacksonville Jaguars
