Old Blue's Weekly Picks
Last Week (vs. Spread): 11-5 (9-7)
Overall (vs. Spread): 18-14 (12-20)
Week #3
Sunday
Washington Redskins at
Houston Texans
The Redskins are in a must win situation here, and with Clinton Portis back, they should be able to run the ball efficiently and win the game. A loss here and their playoff hopes and their season are almost gone.
Redskins over Texans 20-14
Tennessee Titans at
Miami Dolphins
Here’s another team in a must win situation, and so early in the season. Culpepper should bounce back after all the bad press he’s gotten for his bad play and no better team to do it against than the Titans.
Dolphins over Titans 28-3
New York Jets at
Buffalo Bills
This is surprisingly going to be a good match-up, I thought the Jets would be horrible this year, and I usually like the Jets, but with Pennington they look pretty good. It’s gonna be a pretty good game and close as well, but since the Bills are at home, I’m going with them and they’re a better overall team.
Bills over Jets 17-14
Cincinnati Bengals at
Pittsburgh Steelers
I’d like to see Carson Palmer light it up against the Steelers this weekend, specially since they’re the ones who hurt him in the playoffs, but will he be scared of them? I’m hoping he’s out to get revenge, and if he is I see the Bengals really taking it to the Steelers, they beat them in Pittsburgh last year and were well on their way to beating them last year in the playoffs until Carson got hurt.
Bengals over Steelers 38-21
Jacksonville Jaguars at
Indianapolis Colts
Unlike my counterpart, I am starting to believe in the Jaguars, they have a very strong defense, and they’ve been quietly moving up the rankings. The Jags defense is going to be a big test for Indy’s offense, specially with their lack of a running game. I see the Colts winning simply because they’re at home, and Dwight Freeney is a different player on turf, he’s gonna be all over Leftwich.
Colts over Jaguars 20-17
Carolina Panthers at
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Who would’ve thought that both these teams would be winless at this point of the season and that one of them would be winless after 3 weeks! The Panthers are the better team and threw away a win last week, and the Bucs haven’t been good enough to win any games yet.
Panthers over Buccaneers 17-10
Green Bay Packers at
Detroit Lions
The Lions improved offense should finally have a good game this week, I mean they’re playing the Packers. The Lions should easily win this game, however I do expect Favre to air it out a few times and score some points, but at the same time he’s gonna create some costly turnovers.
Lions over Packers 30-14
Chicago Bears at
Minnesota Vikings
This is going to be another interesting game, the winner gets supremacy over the NFC North, I still feel the Bears are best team in that division, and I don’t see the Vikings dethroning them yet. It’ll be interesting to see if the Vikings can pound the ball with Chester Taylor this week.
Bears over Vikings 17-14
Baltimore Ravens at
Cleveland Browns
This should be a pretty easy game for the Ravens. The Ravens defense will stop the Browns from doing much, and Steve “Air” McNair will throw for a couple of touchdowns to give the Ravens the easy win.
Ravens over Browns 20-7
Philadelphia Eagles at
San Francisco 49ers
I look to the Eagles to bounce back against the Niners, they let a win slip through their hands last week, I thought it was fluke by the Giants and also because the Eagles couldn’t run the ball to run out the clock. McNabb is gonna have another huge game of atleast 300 yards and 3 tds.
Eagles over 49ers 34-7
New York Giants at
Seattle Seahawks
The Giants were really lucky last week, they made plays out of nothing, or turned horrible throws by Manning into big plays, that’s pure luck! I don’t see them doing the same thing against the Seahawks, and the Seahawks have a strong enough running game that they can run out the clock at the end of the game.
Seahawks over Giants 24-14
St. Louis Rams at
Arizona Cardinals
I see the Cards passing game lighting it up against the Rams this week, Warner is going to have a big game and so are his receivers (Bolding and Fitzgerald). The Rams offense is going to have to do something to keep up with the high flying Cards.
Cardinals over Rams 30-15
Denver Broncos at
New England Patriots
The Broncos have looked pretty bad this year, losing to the Rams, and barely winning against the Chefs. I expected this team to be pretty good this year, and if they are to be a contender this year, they must win this week. I see Plummer bouncing back with a big game and the Broncos beating the Pats this week.
Broncos over Patriots 24-17
Monday
Atlanta Falcons at
New Orleans Saints
The Falcons are a better team than the Saints, but the big difference in this game is that the Saints are going to be playing with a lot of emotion, they are going to feed off the crowd and win a close game against the Falcons.
Saints over Falcons 21-17
